Let’s get into it right away. Open up Titanium Backup * Root. If you haven’t followed this backup series you can read about Titanium backup here.
When the app opens you’ll see a screen that looks a little like the image below. I’ve clicked on the menu as well so you can see that at the bottom of the screen.
This is the main screen for the app which gives details about the status of your backup system and how much space you have.
We are going to be interested in the Batch menu item shown at the bottom and also the Schedule tab at the top right but before we look at those it’s worth tapping on the Backup/Restore tab at the top of the screen in the middle. Doing so presents the following screen.

Titanium Backup - Backup/Restore screen.
This screen allows you to run all kinds of one-off jobs, including ‘backup all new apps + data’, and ‘restore all missing apps + data’. A very useful screen for when you reflash your Advent Vega Android Tablet with a new custom rom and want to reinstall your apps and settings quickly. You’ll never lose your Angry Birds unlocked levels again!
What I really love is apps that let me be lazy, I don’t want to load up Titanium Backup every week and go through the backup motions. That’s fine because the scheduling is fantastic. Tapping the Scheduling tab at the top right of the screen brings us to the following screen.
There’s 2 schedules already created for you when you first install Titanium Backup on your Advent Vega (or other Android device) The second one in the list is perfect for us, it will back everything up on a Sunday as long as our device is powered. Tap the enabled tickbox so it runs every week. If you’ve never created a backup now would be an excellent time to click the Run button as well. It’s very easy to create your own schedules here and modify existing items. Titanium Backup allows you to play with the frequency of your schedules and what exactly you want to do when the scheduled item triggers. As you can see here…
Restoring is handled in the Backup/Restore screen that we briefly looked at. If you uninstall an app and want to get it back you can just restore a backup, no need to download again. This is perfect if you are out in the jungle and only have Edge on your Portable WiFi hotspot, it also saves you from searching the MarketPlace again ![]()
Right, I’m off to backup my Advent Vega. When I get back we’ll look at batch functionality and restoring everything.
